- What is 'Dragondust?'
My definition is: Loose soil, kicked up from the ground when a dragon flies too low and too fast. The internet, however, defines it as a type of hot ash breathed by a mother dragon onto her nest. It's also a cricket dusting power for Reptiles! This last one I discovered while working at a pet store, after naming my website and found it amusing. I'll let you decide how you wish to define it. :)
- Who wrote the Lightbox code used on the Portfolio & Sketchbook pages?
Lightbox2 is by Lokesh Dhakar and I used the code from of this page.
- How did you make the textures on your banner?
Okay, I admit that I've never been asked this question. I just wanted to give props to the artist who made the brushes I used. I clicked on it a couple of times with a Grunge Brush made by CrimsonSparrow on Deviantart.
The rest was made with my own parchment textures and default Photoshop brushes .
- What mediums and brands do you use to paint with?
Paper: Usually Vellum, Bristol Cold press Multimedia paper.
Graphite: Mechanical pencil.
Colorpencil: Prismacolors.
Paint: Koi (Sakura brand) tube watercolors and Folkart acrylics
Programs: Corel Painter & Adobe Photoshop
- Can I color your illustrations or use them on my site, forum, school report, etc...?
Please see my Copyright Information for details.
- Can I use [insert name of picture here] as a tattoo?
I've only ever said "no" to this question once and it was because the picture in question was a custom tattoo design for someone else. I don't give permission for anyone to reuse a design that somone else paid for. It just wouldn't be fair.
Please ask first if you unsure if a particular image was commissioned. I would also love to see a photo if you get inked with one of my pictures!
- Will you critique my work (on-line)?
The short answer is: "No."
The long answer is: "No, because I am serious about critiques and, admittedly, terrible with words. As such I have a hard time expressing what I actually mean to say, through the internet where I can't put tone or gestures behind the words themselves. I don't want to give anyone any false impressions or say anything I really don't mean to say. Especially when critiquing a piece of art, which can be a very personal thing. Feelings can get hurt in the process, and I really wouldn't like to be a driving force responsible for someone getting upset or giving up on a picture.
- Did you take art lessons?
Yes and no. I never took any sort of private art lessons, unless you count drawing sessions with friends. But I was enrolled in an magnet art program from 8th grade through High School. After that I attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where I got my Bachelors Degree in Illustration. Would I recommend going to art school? Sure, so long as you don't have to take out student loans to pay for it, it never hurts to have the degree. However you can learn so much on your own, just from simple observation. And now, with all the free online tutorials, there really is no limit to the potential of your art education. Have at it!
- I have a question that's not up here. Will you answer it?
Certainly! Send me an e-mail. :)
